The project initiative is inspired by two major challenges – worsening climate change and depletion of natural resources. One of the largest consumers of resources and producers of waste is the construction sector. To support its transition to sustain-ability, the project aims to build trained construction professionals.
Based on the identified needs of the construction sector, the latest European trends and the needs for the development of vocational education and training (VET) in the field of green skills and sustainability in construction sector, a web-based training product will be developed.
Training product will consist of 4 web-based modular units (EQF level 4), which will be available in six languages: English, Latvian, Bulgarian, Slovak, Spanish and Greek. The VET training product will include the most up-to-date knowledge and competences in the field of sustainable construction, based on “micro courses”. The training product will be a timely response to the dynamics of the labor market.
Through the developed training product, the project will support the transition of the construction sector to a sustainable circular economy and will meet the needs of VET for training programs in response to the EU Green Deal and the New EU Action Plan for the Circular Economy.
The developed Web-based training materials will be freely available and intended for widespread use in vocational education and construction practice across Europe.
The SusCon-VET project embodies the common European vision – to promote the principles of sustainability, innovation and the circular economy by combining education, science and practical actions for the benefit of people and the planet.
